Many only know him as Barrack Hussein Obama, the visiting former United States Head of State who is currently in the nation for the launch of his elder sister, Auma Obama's Sauti Kuu Youth Initiative.
The event is currently underway at his ancestral Kogelo village in Siaya county, the place where his late father and renowned economist Barrack Obama Senior hails from.
The source of his third and Luo name 'Obama', however, remains unknown to many Kenyans, especially outsiders who happen to not come from, or have a deep understanding of the Luo language.
Obama is derived from the word 'bam', the Luo word for something either bent or not in its right or supposed straight and expected manner.
The name is then given the 'O' to give it the Luo touch which also indicates that the holder is a male, with the last 'A' coming automatically to complete the flow.
This could mean that the baby Obama could have been born at a time when things were not in order between his parents and were either not in good terms or he was born amid a disagreement.
He could also have been born while in an unnatural posture hence the name, according to issues that are most probable to have led to the rather weird naming.
