National Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi has warned opposers of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) that they might be in for some trouble in the near future.
After its introduction after the President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM boss Raila Odinga truce of 2018, the initiative has been facing opposition from a section Uhuru's Jubilee Party.
Mbadi on Tuesday warned the group, directing his remarks at Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, that the rejection will attract a cost.
He gave it a house construction analogy, likening the BBI to a house under construction and warning that those opposing the same might he injured in the long run.
"Its like we are constructing a house and so of you are challenging and always opposing the construction of the house, which is supposed to give us shelter, we will tell you you may get injured. That is the warning we are giving Murkomen and others," he said.
The close Raila ally, who is also the ODM National Chairman, made the remarks on Citizen TV's NewsNight.
This comes amid reports that the BBI taskforce might propose constitutional amendments, which has doubled concerns in Ruto's camp.
Mbadi's remarks come two months after Raila likened the BBI to a tsunami, warning that it will sweep away anyone who attempts to stand in it's way.
And though Ruto last week rubbished claims that he is opposed to the BBI, his allies continue poruinf cold water on it, and terming the unknown BBI report a plot to create unnecessary job openings for election losers.
