There comes a point in a relationship when love becomes unpalatable. The taste is bitter, and at that point, the two of you decide to discard everything – the memories, the laughs, the pains, the hard times, the good times – and pursue better pastures.
In some instances, the break-up is never that easy. Things are broken, acrid insults are traded, and sometimes bruises are traded too. In that moment of temporary insanity, no one stops to ask: is this worth it?
The answer is no and for the following reasons;
The two could get back together
You never know what destiny planned for you. The two of you could wander over hills and valleys, deserts and grasslands, yet not find someone who was close to the one you insulted badly. Upon close inflection, you realize the source of your quarrels was a minor thing. Then you decide to get back together. That won’t be easy if you did say bad things.
Respect each other
In Kalenjin, they say respect exceeds the value of a cow. In the relationship, the two of you gave each other a portion of your lives (and this is the greatest gift you can give someone), shared dark secrets, and introduced them to your families. When you did all these, why then use this to insult them? Decorum necessitates that you respect your soon to be ex’s stories and secrets.
Maturity
There are instances where lovers have turned against each other, hacking one to death. There is more to life than being left by someone you love. Be mature and walk away with your head high. Understand that he or she was not meant for you and that you will find someone who will value and love you more than the one who walked away.
