The aunt reportedly fainted and died at their Kokuro village home, Migori County under the unclear circumstance.

According to Sharon’s uncle, Joshua Okong’o, the discovery of her lifeless body near Kodera Forest in Homa Bay County on Tuesday evening, ‘shocked her aunt to death’.

The uncle, who is acting as the family spokesperson, also revealed that the aunt died at around 1 am on Friday.  Okong’o faulted the media and a section of politician for the death of the aunt.

The body of the deceased was transferred to Rapcom mortuary in Awendo town awaiting burial.

Obado’s personal assistant Michael Juma Oyamo was arrested in relation to the murder. He allegedly lured Nation journalist Barack Oduor and Sharon Beryne Otieno before their abduction only for the student to be found dead.

Oduor narrowly escaped death after jumping out of the assailants' car. Obado’s PA will remain in custody until Monday as investigations continue.

On Friday, a postmortem examination report of the student revealed that she was strangled, stabbed eight times and raped before she died. The autopsy also revealed that the unborn child was equally stabbed to death by the assailants.

Government Chief Pathologist Johansen is expected to conduct a DNA test on the baby to establish the paternity as investigations into the murder intensify. The mysterious death of the student has elicited mixed reactions from different factions.
