A Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) officer has been charged with three counts of defilement at a Machakos law court.

The Warrant Officer Two, Paul Mbuvi Nzivo, Job No. 57617, attached at KMA Lanet appeared before Senior Magistrate Irene Kahuyia on Tuesday.

Nzivo is accused of defiling a 16-year-old class eight girl, pupil at Embui Primary School between June and July 2018 at Wamunyu market in Mwala Sub County.

He pleaded not guilty to the offense and was granted a bond of Sh100,000 and surety of the same amount.

The case was set for mentioning on July 31, 2018.

Nzivo had been arrested and detained at Masii Police Station before he was arraigned in court.

According to the charge sheet, the officer's arrest was reported to Masii police station under OB 18/10/7/2018 at 11.00hrs.

"It was reported by a member of the public that there was a person who had a habit of picking a 16-year-old juvenile, pupil at Embui primary school in class eight from her homestead using motor vehicle Registration No. KBK 658N Toyota Fielder and taking her to Wamunyu area where he defiled her. Investigations commenced on 15/7/2018 and the accused person who works with KDF based at KMA Planet NO. 57617 WO11 Paul Nzivo was arrested OB 32/15/7/2018," the report reads in part."
