Deputy President William Ruto will get two choppers hired for him, according to a supplementary budget tabled at the National Assembly on Thursday.
Emerging details indicate that the treasury is planning to hire two new aircrafts for the DP, only a year after his office floated tenders for a helicopter and fixed wing plane.
The urgency behind the move remains unexplained, this being part of Sh366 million allocated for the office of the Deputy President in the 2019/2020 budget.
Ironically, Ruto's office is set to receive more money as compared to the Statehouse, which translates to President Uhuru Kenyatta, which has been allocated Sh279 million.
In the budget tabled by National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale, the treasury wants the house to approve Sh163 billion, with Sh213 million set to be used on government advisory services, reports the Nation.
This comes only days after MPs allocated themselves Sh1. 2 billion in house allowances, which is likely to further burden the taxpayer which they backdated to late last month.
The changes will see each MP earn Sh250, 000 monthly, in a move that though facing some opposition, has been backed by a number of MPs who argue that they are justified to get the money.
