Borabu MP Ben Momanyi has asked Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i to consider sharing podium with DP William Ruto amid rivalry between the two leaders.
Politicians allied to Dr Ruto had threatened to have Matiang'i impeached following links to alleged gold scandal, a move that attracted condemnation from a host of Gusii leaders.
At Kiabonyoru ward on Friday, Mr Momanyi however, added that he will give Matiang'i a call and persuade him to attend Friday's function in the region where Ruto is expected.
"We haven't started campaigns. Leaders should have tolerance. Even if I may not speak from same script with the DP, we are not in campaigning mode," he said.
The second term legislator insisted that politicians should first work for people before engaging in cut throat competitions ahead of 2022 polls.
"I am calling Matiang'i to request him to come. He should share podium with the DP. If he won't come, I will ask him to send his donations," said the MP.
Dr Ruto will on Friday lead a fundraiser for several SDA churches in Mokomoni District. It will be his first time in Nyamira ever since Matiang'i was elevated to be the chairman National Development and Communication Cabinet Committee.
So controversial has been the position that a section of the DP's allies have reportedly waged a secret war against him. Pundits claim that the position neutralised Ruto's influence.
