Unlike in previous terror attacks in the country, security personnel responded swiftly to Tuesday's incident at 14 Riverside Drive Complex in Nairobi's Westlands area, even though the number of casualties is yet to be established by the authorities.
In a press conference on Tuesday night, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i claimed that officers sourced from different security agencies had managed to secure the building but gunshots could be heard on Wednesday morning from the multi-million building.
While such cases are strictly handled by security forces, one man has however standout to be the hero of the moment for the second time in as many years. This is after his heroic photos of him rescuing hundreds of people flooded the internet.
Mr Inayat Kassam, a licensed firearm holder, was also in the scene at Westgate Mall, not far away from Tuesday's scene, in 2013 where he helped hundreds to run for their safety following an attack by Somali based militants, Al Shabaab.
A quick check on his identity reveals that he's a security expert and a qualified firearm trainer, with a company known as Scorpion which provides security management training. He's also a member of community policing in Nairobi area.
His details as captured online read: "Inayat is the Managing Director of Scorpio Africa Ltd in Nairobi. His team provides security management and training in the form of security personnel, unarmed/armed training and certified firearm training (based upon the ITA South African curriculum). He is certified as an Advanced Tactical Shooting Instructor with ITA, and has also trained with various entities such as SKOPOS, ACT, and AMOK over the course of the last 9 years.

A section of Kenyans praised his heroics with some urging President Uhuru Kenyatta to honour him given his dedication on matters emergency evacuations especially in the last two suspected terrorist attacks where more lives could have been lost.
On his fact file, he's seen in one of the photos training TV anchor Jeff Koinange on how to shoot. He has roots in Israeli intelligence team Mossad, which is ranked of one of the best elite intelligence team in the world.
