Nicholas sang says that he stumbled on the money alongside other belongings of the owner, and managed to use the available documents to find the rightful owner's home.

Sang who is a tea picker said that he made the discovery while in a honey gathering expedition.

"The money was laying on the ground in the middle of the forest. Besides the money, I recovered a pair of socks and a handkerchief," sang told the Thursday Standard.

He added that he used documents in the wallet, which he also found alongside the money, to trace the owner.

"From it, I retrieved an identification card belonging to Robert Kipkurui Tonui, from Kapsengere Village, Bomet County," added Sang.

However, upon locating the home, he found out that Tonui has been missing for days, after disappearing on April 7.

He said that the family of Tonui reported the same to the police who moved to the scene and found more belongings of the 27-year-old.

Sang said that he also found a motorbike sale agreement indicating that the latter had sold his bodaboda, and had received Ksh30, 000 as the deposit.

He believes that the money he found could have been part of the deposit.
