Moticho Ward MCA Evance Omwansu Mokoro popularly known as Baraka appeared before Ogembo Senior Principal Magistrate Denis Mikoyan.

The court heard that the MCA allegedly defiled a 16-year-old girl at Nyamarambe in Gucha South Sub-County between June 2016 and September 2017.

Mokoro who won the MCA seat as an independent candidate during the 2017 polls also faced a second charge of committing an indecent act with a minor.

The ward representative denied all charges and pleaded with the court to release him on bond or cash bail, arguing that he will not skip court proceedings or intimidate witnesses.

In his ruling, Magistrate Mikoyan ordered the MCA's release on Sh50,000 cash bail or Sh200,000 bond and warned him against going near the family members of the victim and the witnesses.

The magistrate noted that the cash bail or bond will be revoked should the MCA fail to attend court proceedings.

The mentioning of the case was set for May 16, 2019.

Mokoro is the former Kisii County Assembly Deputy Speaker.
