A Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) official in Kisii County has protested the interdiction of 41 headteachers.
Kisii central KNUT coordinator Augustine Mogabo said that the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) should stop harassing teachers.
"It is an insult to Kisii county teachers for TSC to interdict 41 teachers who boycotted the ongoing competence-based curriculum training across the country. There are procedures which must be followed to interdict teachers. TSC should reverse the decision and do justice to the 41 teachers," said Mogabo.
He challenged teachers across the county to stand with the interdicted teachers until they get justice.
Mogabo insisted that the interdicted teachers are human beings, fathers, mothers, husbands and wives.
"There is no way a Kenyan teacher who has been struggling to teach can be interdicted because he or she boycotted a programme meant to waste time. All we want as officials is to see the affected teachers getting their justice," he added.
The vocal official said no one will force teachers to take unnecessary rules down their throats.
He accused Education CS George Magoha of harassing teachers adding that interdicting them won't bring the desired reforms in the education sector.
Out of the 41 interdicted teachers in Kisii County, 32 come from Gucha South sub-county while 9 are from Sameta sub-county.
