Failure of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to clinch any seat in the just concluded by-elections continue to elicit mixed reactions with Machakos County First Lady Lilian Ng'ang'a also expressing her reactions.
Through her official Twitter handle, Nganga noted a win for the Wiper candidate in Embakasi South and Movement for Democracy and Growth in Ugenya was a clear indication that Kenyans were voting for individuals and not parties.
The wife to Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua further pointed out how his husband was able to win re-election on a Maendeleo Chap Chap ticket despite the NASA wave in Ukambani region during the 2017 general elections.
"From the by-elections, it is clear that people vote for the person and not necessarily the party...and of course not to forget Machakos county where Dr Alfred Mutua won where there was a presumed NASA wave," Ng'ang'a tweeted.
Julius Mawathe garnered 21,628 votes defeating his rival ODM's Irshad Sumra who garnered 7,988 votes to win the Embakasi South seat while the Movement for Democracy and Growth candidate David Ochieng won the Ugenya seat after beating Christopher Karan of ODM.
Ochieng had 18,730 votes against Karani's 14,507 votes.
