Hours after his appointment as African Union High Representative for Infrastructural Development, ODM leader Raila Odinga jetted to the United States for the second time in as any months, spokesman Dennis Onyango has revealed.
Mr. Odinga had graced Mashujaa Day celebrations at Bukhungu stadium where he formally accepted the offer by AU which was made public by chairperson Moussa Faki.
Mr. Onyango said: "the former premier is set to deliver a lecture at the Duke University in North Carolina.
"He is also scheduled to meet Kenyans from the Raleigh area and meet business leaders from the State," he added.
In the company of Mr. Odinga is fierce Nyando MP Jared Okello among other members of his secretariat.
Last year in November, Mr. Odinga toured the US for one week at the height of post election violence in the country. Apparently, this year's tour will also last for one week.
His new assignment, Mr. Faki said, involves engaging member states on matters infrastructure especially along the borders and sea ports given his experience as Roads and Public Works minister.
He will have offices both at Addis Ababa in Ethiopia and Nairobi, where he will spend most of his time.
