Nyaribari Chache MP Richard Tong'i assured his 'employers' that he will not boycott his duties and engage in retrogressive politics.
Tong'i met with constituents at his rural home on Sunday.
A section of constituents who attended the meeting at the MP's rural home while speaking at Kiogoro area on Tuesday said the MP distanced himself from politics of "empty words".
"We were privileged to be hosted by Tong'i on Sunday at his home. He vowed never to play divisive politics but, focus on development in the constituency," stated Alloys Nyansaiga.
Nyansaiga also noted that constituents asked the MP to explain his close association with Deputy President William Ruto.
"He defended his closeness with DP Ruto saying it will enable him to push for development for all constituents," he added.
Another constituent, Norah Oyaro said the lawmaker promised to continue empowering youth, women and disabled people.
"The MP encouraged residents to shun divisive politicians and venture into small businesses to boost livelihoods," she said.
Stephen Ong'ayo lauded the MP for hosting constituents saying such meetings should be held from time to time so that he can be rated.
"Mr Tong'i promised to continue hosting us from time to time so that he can get to hear our views. There is a possibility of him retaining his MP seat in 2022," noted Ong'ayo.
