In a press conference on Monday, the Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok-led Council of Governors (COG) proposed immunity against sitting county bosses, a privilege currently unique to the President.

The call comes only days after one of their own, Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong' was arrested and tried for graft and misuse of public office.

The attempt, therefore, is most likely a move to protect other county chiefs involved in similar activities, with the Governors suddenly realising that many more could be subjected to such embarrassment and detention in the near future.

However, the push is set for rejection from all quarters, especially now that the nation has reignited its fight against corruption, with leaders from both the ruling and the opposing sides rising up against the vice as well.

Unlike in the past when people were protected by their political sides and party leaders, the Governors are likely to instead receive bashings from their quarters, now that both sides have joined hands against the vice.

Therefore, the Governors are all alone in this, making it an impossible mission and will ultimately be forced to accept things as they are and those involved in graft nabbed and prosecuted regardless of their political affiliations.
