President Uhuru Kenyatta has promised to prioritise Blue Economy programmes as he seeks to leave behind a legacy.

Speaking during a meeting of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) held on the sidelines of the 74th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York,  Uhuru said that his government is putting in place different measures to ensure that the economy of the nation is better. 

He said that the Blue Economy will help in the creation of jobs as well as strengthening of the economy in the remaining part of his term in office. 

"From the very onset, there was a very clear recognition for some of us that resources that were going to be available especially in this era of climatic change from land based resources, we were slowly and slowly depleting through increase in population growth, through desertification and so many other issues," he said.

He also said that the government has been keen on the development of resources to do with Blue Economy.  Uhuru also said that his government has realised the Ocean has endless resources for the boost of the economy. 

Uhuru has also asked investors from other parts of the world to invest in Kenya.
