Former Budalangi Member of Parliament and Foreign Affairs CAS Ababu Namwamba is a man with eloquent and a sparkling political character.

While the dust has been thrown at his political journey in recent days, Namwamba remains one of the personalities with intriguing vision even as shown in his various hometown nicknames.

The following Namwamba’s nicknames show the kind of a person he is and what he stands for in politics:

1. Ikholo

Namwamba was branded this name which means fear during his first parliamentary campaign back in 2007.

His popularity rose so fast that he brought anxiety into his opponent camp, whom he eventually beat in the election.

He is the man who causes fear whenever he is, just the way he did in ODM before he ditched the party.

2. Jenerali

This nickname refers to a General.

It means one who leads in a fight as during a war. Namwamba has always wanted to lead.

He beat Raphael Wanjala to the parliamentary seat out of the blue back in 2007.

He ditched ODM to become a party leader of the Labour Party. There's no doubt that his career is still going to sail high.

3. Ababu Smart

This name was coined after he introduced Basmati (Indian long-grained aromatic rice) in Bunyala Irrigation scheme.

Namwamba has always eyed big projects during his era as MP.

Under his leadership, a historic billions’ project Sigiri Bridge was commissioned near the mouth of River Nzoia.
