This is an open letter to arguably Kenya’s powerful Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho after news emerged that Dr William Samoei Ruto was denied security in an event in Nyeri.

The news of such an act is embarrassing to any Kenyan with respect to our constitution.

Despite the open secret that some ‘powerful forces’ do not like Dr Ruto and are hell-bent to see his 2022 presidential bid crumble like a cookie, we cannot in no way play with the security of Kenya’s second in command.

The forces, identified within political circles as Kaput, can pull all the strings to stop Daktari from becoming president but not one on his security.

More worrying is that the news of security withdrawal from his events comes at a time when a vocal unionist said that Ruto’s name will not be on the ballot come 2022 and vowed with the name of the Almighty God.

What would happen to this country if something sinister happened to the Deputy President? Would we have a country to call Kenya again?

Why is Interior Cabinet Secretary letting his PS Karanja Kibicho play ping pong with our country Kenya?

As a young Kenya who loathes politics and politicians, I want to jog Kibicho’s memory through a story that is often told in Kenyan dailies. In the sunset years of founding father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, there were cut-throat politics on his successions schemes.

Politicians positioned themselves accordingly and the most notable was one group which decided to have constitutional amendments to bar then vice president Daniel Moi from succeeding Kenyatta in case of anything.

This group reportedly used a senior police officer stationed in Nakuru to form an elimination squad to deal with those that supported Moi.

Favoured by fate, the evil schemes of the anti-Moi group did not succeed in their plans. Moi went ahead to become president.

The senior police officer, who reports allege that he had once humiliated Moi by slapping him at Nakuru State Lodge, had to go to exile.

The story of that man should be a lesson to those in power today, do not be used by political groupings to humiliate Ruto or anyone else, you might be forced to go on exile by the time President Uhuru Kenyatta succession politics comes to an end.
