A Recce Squad officer arrested in connection to Monica Kimani's murder may have after all turned into a state witness, reports the Standard.
Mr. Orlando Odhiambo was arrested last week on Thursday, arraigned in court on Friday before being remanded at Muthaiga police station for 14 days over Monica's murder.
But even before the period elapsed, DCI is said to have turned him into state witness after it emerged that he was never with main suspect Joseph Irungu at Monica's house.
Preliminary investigations showed that he could have been the man captured on CCTV cameras driving alongside Irungu at Dennis Pritt Road late in midnight.
Detectives visited his place of work at Ruiru GSU headquarters, Monica's house and a bar in Kilimani but could not find any incriminating evidence.
But with his close relationship with Irungu, police say, he agreed to testify as witness for the state, joining Brian Kassaine, a neighbour to Ms. Jacque Maribe, who has also been charged with murder.
Presiding Judge James Wakiaga remanded Ms. Maribe and Irungu for six more days, awaiting for their bail application fate on October 30th.
DCI George Kinoti had indicated that evidence collected do far will help nail the suspects when prosecution commence.
