This is after university students stormed Kuresoi South NG-CDF office, a month ago, demanding for the same while protesting over what they had termed as an unfair distribution of bursary funds.

One of the student leaders, Kiprono Mutai, earlier today posted in one of the Kuresoi South Facebook groups, “Lest we forget, there is a signed MOU deposited at the CDF office stating that bursary beneficiaries will be surrendered on 20th May. Friends of goodwill can join in to witness the maiden occasion.”

In a one-page petition, the students had presented to the NG-CDF’s officials on April 25 where they called for transparency in vetting and awarding of the funds to the needy.

“We need to have student leaders elected by students themselves to be opted into the vetting and awarding committee,” read the petition.

They added, “We do not find it fair and sensible for a needy student with arrears of Sh66,000, for instance, being awarded just Sh3,000.”

The petition, seen by Hivisasa, also suggested that application of bursary be made online and the list of beneficiaries be posted on the NG-CDF’s official Facebook page in a bid to enhance transparency and accountability.

Efforts to get comments from Kuresoi South CDF officials bore no fruits as calls and texts went unanswered.
