Speaking on the floor of the House, the Garissa Township MP said that he would put Serem to task over her decision to slash the salaries of legislators during her tenure.

Duale's pointed criticism has triggered a backlash from politicians with the latest being Gatundu South Moses Kuria.

''Victimising Dr Serem for doing her job will set a bad precedent for the National Assembly. As a Jubilee MP, I support the President’s appointment and she should know she is safe to come to the assembly,'' Kuria said.

Kuria maintained that it was wrong for anyone to harass a presidential nominee.

The outspoken was speaking during a fundraiser in Nyeri County last week.

Also present were other central Kenya politicians.

MP Rigathi Gachagua, Governor Mutahi Kahiga, and MP Alice Wahome warned against victimisation of Serem and called for her to be treated fairly and with respect.
