A night guard has been sentenced to life imprisonment, several years after he was convicted for murder.
The court had found 62-year-old Joseph Kibet Kirui guilty of killing his wife Jane Chepkemoi seven years ago.
The incident happened in Nyahururu Town in Nyandarua county on June 21, 2012.
The judgement was handed by Justice Janet Mulwa at the Nakuru Law Courts on Tuesday.
She found the case very serious, considering that it was done in the presence of the couple's two children aged 12 and 14.
She noted that the children will forever be traumatized, adding that they are yet to received very from the scary happening, seven years later.
Justice Mulwa added that the accused deliberately committed the offence, relying on results of a social inquiry that found that the matter was done intentionally and not by mistake.
“The children will forever be traumatised. They are yet to come to terms with the loss of their mother seven years (later)," she was quoted by the Standard.
The two had been married for 29 children, with the court also establishing that they had 11 children.
