Kisii County MP Janet Ong'era is mourning the death of her elder brother Samuel Ong'era who died on at Nairobi hospital where he was admitted 2 weeks ago.
A family member who spoke in confidence said the deceased has been battling throat cancer.
"Samuel died on Tuesday night at Nairobi hospital where he was admitted two weeks ago for throat cancer treatment. By the time of his death, he was still at ICU," said the family member.
The MP has been vocal articulating issues of Kisii electorates since she was elected during the last year's polls.
She has been at the front line helping residents suffering from various ailments such as cancer, diabetes to seek medical attention.
Speaking on Tuesday at Itierio in Bonchari Sub County where she attended a funeral, the vocal lawmaker said she will keep on pushing for development in Kisii region.
"I will not rest until livelihoods of our people are improved. Locals leaders should join me to empower youths, women and disabled people," she noted.
She appealed to Governor James Ongwae to ignore his political enemies and focus his energies in serving the electorates.
