Police in Migori county are holding a suspect accused of sedating and raping a patient.
The suspect, a medical practitioner working with Frontal medical clinic is accused of committing the offence on December 26 in Nyatike sub-location.
Reports indicate that the suspect went into hiding after learning that officers were after him.
The incident was confirmed by Nyatike OCPD John Musili. He said that rhe victim visited the facility for medication when the incident occurred.
“The medic diagnosed her and said she needed more blood. He took her to a private room and injected her. She became unconscious thereafter. He then sexually assaulted her and disappeared,” said Mr Musili.
He added, “When the woman came to, she realised she was naked and alone in the room. She rushed to another hospital which confirmed her fears; She had been sexually assaulted. She reported to the police and a manhunt for the suspect was launched.”
The victim is currently admitted in the hospital where she is recovering.
The suspect was arrested on Thursday and is being held at Nyatike police station.
