President Uhuru Kenyatta has led his deputy William Ruto and NASA co-principal Raila Odinga in a triumphant entry into Murang’a for the burial of legendary Kikuyu musician Joseph Kamaru.
Kamaru, who died last week, is being laid to rest at his Kaharati farm in Murang’a County.
Uhuru and Ruto arrived minutes to 12:00 noon as the service started.
Raila arrived minutes later dressed in his popular kitenge attire and a fly whisk.
A couple of political leaders, especially those from the Jubilee wing, are attending the ceremony.
The prayer service is being led by Bishop Harrison Ng’anga.
The late Kamaru started his career in 1956 and was one of the most popular musicians in the 1980s with his vocals rising to become a signature tune in most music stores.
He was an icon more so within Mt Kenya region where his lyrics wowed audiences with uttermost finesse.
He died on October 3 at MP Shah Hospital in Nairobi where he was receiving treatment.
