Samuel Okemwa, a close confidant of Raila Odinga, in a video widely circulated on social media, also accused DP Ruto of condoning laziness in the larger Gusii region.

"Gusii MPs are now a disgrace to the community. They have forgotten their legislative roles and instead pitched camp and William Ruto's doors," he said in local dialect Ekegusii.

"Most of them no longer speaks in parliament about our plights. All they are thinking is how to solicit for handouts from the DP. He has even contributed to their laziness," he added.

A list released by Mzando publication in April, named four Gusii MPs who have reportedly never spoken in parliament.

They include Shadrack Mose (Kitutu Masaba), Jerusha Momanyi (Nyamira), Joash Nyamoko (North Mugirango) and Alfa Miruka (Bomachoge Borabu).

Though based in Canada, Okemwa was a chief diaspora campaigner for Raila Odinga and has often met the ODM leader.
