Following the hullabaloo at Kisii town on Monday between the nurses and street children, residents have been questioning whether Ongwae’s government bribed the street children to halt the demonstration hatched by Kisii county nurses, by pouring urine and blocking them.

This was after more than 20 street children paraded at the Kisii- Kisumu road and without reasons, they stopped the nurses from carrying in their demonstrations.

What caught people's attention, was the fact that the county enforcement officers in uniform saw the whole ordeal as the nurses were blocked but did nothing.

Due to fear of being injured by the street children who carried stones and wooden clubs, they resorted help from Kisii police station but their plea was turned down. According to reports by The Standard, they were told that the policemen were insufficient on the station. This drew many speculations from the residents saying Ongwae had a hand in it.

Last week, there was a lot of propaganda going on online indicating that nurses had withdrawn their stand in carrying on the demonstrations. What was termed as new propaganda used by Ongwae to salvage his administration's tainted image?

In a letter dated 4 February, all the nurses were ordered by the county government through the County Secretary Patrick Lumumba to go back to work or be subject to disciplinary actions.

"The strike is illegal and those who will not report to work will be subjected to disciplinary actions,” Lumumba said.

However, the nurses declared war of not bending low. Today was to mark a start of their second week in the strike but were blocked by the street boys.
