The late Mzee Tamaro was the proprietor of the Tabaka Academy.

Onyonka while addressing mourners said political brokers who will be interested to embezzle public funds should not be elected in 2022 general elections.

"I wish to urge mourners present here and Kisii residents as a whole not to vote for someone because of the money he or she has but, elect someone based on the development ideas the politician has in store for the people," he said.

The vocal lawmaker challenged the mourners present to copy Abuya's example to invest at home.

"I want to challenge everyone here not to go out to invest there. We must invest in our home for the sake of changing the lives of our people the same way Mr Abuya did start an academy which has helped our children in terms of education," he said.

Onyonka warned residents against accepting handouts from politicians who will later steal public funds to recover the money they have spent giving handouts.
