County Secretary  Erick Onchana had on Saturday asked locals to attend the function, adding that the governor would be present in person  for the event.

"I would like to invite you for the home coming of Brother Tabichi. The governor will also be attending. It's the first time we are formally inviting him home," Onchana said at Machuririati.

Tabichi was crowned the best teacher in March and awarded Sh100 million. He met President Uhuru Kenyatta and Governor Lee Kinyanjui of Nakuru in April.

Communication Director Kefa Miller said the governor's absence should not be politicised since top county representatives were present at Kemera on Sunday.

"We had the issue of budget making in which the cabinet is so much involved. We also have a relative to the governor who was to be taken home from mortuary on Sunday. That's why he could not make it," he said.

Speaker Moffat Teya graced the event. He asked teachers to emulate Tabichi for service to humanity for the sake of mentoring young ones for future.

"Winning such an award is the best thing on earth. We are happy to be associated with you. Continue mentoring our children and God will always reward you," Teya told the golden teacher.
