Deputy President (DP) William Ruto is among top politicians who have declared their interest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in the 2022 general election.
Apart from banking on his Rift Valley backyard for votes, Ruto will also be expected to market his 2022 ambition to other regions across the country.
There are region's that DP Ruto is likely to face headache in marketing his agenda and persuading voters to vote for him.
Such region's include the Maasai land where the DP has to work extra hard if he wants to increase chances of ascending to presidency in 2022 election.
In the past general elections, the Maa community has been perceived to be friendly to the opposition.
With the 2022 succession politics now taking shape, here are two politicians from the Maa community who are likely to give DP Ruto a hard time.
1. Ledama Ole Kina
The Narok County Senator has become a political force to reckon with in the Maa community, and the country at large.
A close ally of opposition leader Raila Odinga, Ole Kina is likely to spread the opposition message in the region in 2022 election.
It is likely to be hard for DP Ruto to penetrate the Maa community in 2022, if Ole Kina will be still supporting the Orange Party.
Ole Kina is being taunted as the next possible leader of the Maa community.
2. Elijah Memusi Kanchori
The Kajiado Central MP enjoys massive following among the young people.
Memusi, a close ally of Raila Odinga could give DP Ruto headcahe in 2022 owing to his political popularity.
The ODM MP is also being taunted as the next big name in the Ma' politics.
