Kisii County Governor James Ogwae has said he is committed to opening up Kisii County rural areas and increase road connectivity.
"As I continue engaging KERRA and KURA on our major/urban roads, opening, expansion and maintenance of our rural roads to murram level across the county is ongoing to add up to the more than 3,000km of roads that have been done across our 45 wards," said Ongwae.
Ongwae also said that the roads will both boost human transport and ensure farm produce from villages reach the market with ease and in a timely manner.
"My government has engaged the Mechanical Transport Fund (MTF) to fast-track the process of opening up more roads with an aim to both boost human transport and ensure farm produce from villages reach the market with ease and in a timely manner," he said.
He added that he will continue to open up more roads in the county a way of fulfilling his political promises he made to residents during his campaigns.
"Taking cognizance of the role roads play in my development agenda, I will continue to focus on opening up of more roads in our rural areas. I am also grateful that KeNHA has commenced upgrading of Nyamataro-Daraja Moja bypass to bitumen standards,"
