The media industry is growing really fast that every station is seeking to have the best personalities who can reach a large mass of viewers and listeners. Now Royal media services which also owns Citizen TV has been brought to a great shock and disbelief as a top presenter left the top-ranked station for a new gig with rival NTV.
Willis Raburu, 31, is said to have tendered his resignation two weeks ago and will be leaving the giant station any time now.
Among the duties, Raburu had was anchoring daytime news and most importantly, hosting the youthful 10 Over 10 show that airs on Friday night.
It is said that the show had grown so big that it ate into NTV‘s similar but more mature, The Trend’s audience, almost to its death. Larry Madowo who made quite a name for himself hosting the show, hang up his boots just recently and promised a new presenter will be jumping on board.
Different hosts have temporarily hosted The Trend since, most notably Njambi Koikai last weekend. She is a former reggae show host at QTV and deejay. It has now emerged that Raburu reached a deal with NTV and will take over the baton from Larry to host the popular show.
The former is still with the station doing newscasting duties. Undisclosed sources at NTV confirmed that indeed Raburu will soon be joining the NMG brand. Which brings forth another question. Who will his co-host at 10 Over 10, Joey Muthengi, be hosting the show with?
I guess that is a question that we have to wait and see. But believe you me, it must be someone good enough for that hard task.
