According to the second in command, the takeover will be a win-win situation for both KQ and KAA. He also said that the takeover will benefit the government in the fight for better service delivery.

He said that there is no way the government is going to allow tourism and other sectors of the economy to collapse.

Ruto, who has hinted at contesting for the nation’s top seat in 2022, said that the takeover will transform the country in different ways

He insisted the change in the management will ensure the airport offers better services to the travellers.

“It would be irresponsible for us as a government to allow Kenya Airways to go down because if it happens, it will go down with our tourism, our horticulture sector and revenues,” said the DP as quoted by Standard.

The remarks come at a time the National Assembly’s Public Investments Committee blocked the merger.

The Committee chairman Abdullswamad Nassir asked the office of the Auditor-General to conduct investigations into the circumstances behind the deal before a final decision can be reached over the same.
