Four people were on Thursday arrested by the police in Marsabit County after they were found with 5kgs of bhang.
Confirming the incident, Marsabit County Police Commander Steve Oloo said the suspects had hidden the bhang in the rear tyres of the vehicle they were travelling in.
Among the suspects who are in police custody include Daniel Njuguna (the driver), Boniface Muthee (owner of the vehicle) and three other unidentified suspects.
The police said that the bhang which was unearthed from the moving vehicle’s tyres was worth Sh200,000.
According to the police, the Toyota Alphard which was heading to Nairobi was flagged down at a roadblock for a traffic check.
During the police check, the police smelt bhang but could not tell where the bhang was and had to take the car to the police station for further inspection.
After a thorough search while at the police station, the police managed to find 5kgs of bhang stashed in two tubeless tyres of the vehicle.
“Investigations into the incident are ongoing and the suspects will be arraigned in court,” said police commander Oloo.
