A 23-year-old man has committed suicide in Kangundo, Machakos County.
The deceased hang himself in Matetani village on Sunday.
The incident was confirmed by the area chief Bethwel King'ele who spoke to this writer on the phone.
King'ele said the man took long to wake up and when his family members went to check what was wrong, they found his body dangling from the roof.
"They found his body hanging from the roof. This was after waiting for him from morning until noon without him coming out. The previous night, he had no issues. He went to bed just fine," King'ele said.
He said although the man didn't leave a suicide note behind explaining the cause of his actions, he had hit someone with a car at Kisukioni in 2017 and the victim died on the spot.
King'ele said the deceased had been receiving treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital since the accident and had started recovering.
"No one can tell his reasons for committing suicide only for that accident last year which he has been silent about, it seems it bothered him greatly," he said.
Police took the body to Kangundo Level 4 Hospital's mortuary for preservation as investigations commence.
King'ele urged residents to counsel gloomy family members who may be battling psychological trauma.
