Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji has asked elected leaders in the county to remain united and spearhead service delivery to the people.
Haji wants leaders to stop engaging in petty issues that will deny residents development.
Speaking at Mogadashe Grounds in Garissa Town on Saturday, the Jubilee senator asked leaders to shun 2022 political debates and focus on service delivery.
He said that the 2022 election is far away and leaders should utilise the time they have to serve the people.
"As elected leaders, we must put the focus on serving residents instead of engaging in petty and meaningless issues," he said.
The senator said that unity is the only key to the realisation of development.
Haji asked Garissa residents to demand services from their elected leaders.
He said that the constitution empowers locals to recall leaders who they feel are not performing.
Haji is among veteran and experienced politicians in Garissa.
He is serving his second term in office as senator and chairs the Building Bridge's Committee Taskforce that was formed after the March 9 famous handshake.
