With Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho keen to go for the country’s top seat come the next general election, his ambition will no doubt shakeup Raila Odinga-led ODM.

Raila’s right-hand men led by Siaya Senator James Orengo and East Africa Legislative Assembly MP Oburu Odinga have in the past insisted that the former Prime Minister will be the party’s candidate come 2022. But perhaps as a strategy to maintain party unity, Raila himself has steered clear of the debate surrounding his political future.

Last week, during an interview with Pilipili FM, Joho insisted that he will contest for presidency on an ODM ticket.

According to the Mombasa Governor, Raila has never told him to stop campaigning even as he exuded confidence that the former Premier will support his ambitious State House journey.

What if the two ODM luminaries insist on going for presidency on the party’s ticket? It will force the party to go for nominations-just like in 2007. If so, will Joho who is already a household name in the country’s political shock Raila to fly the party’s flag?
