Murang’a Women Representative Sabina Chege has dismissed claims that the Jubilee Party is on the verge of collapsing.
Chege said claims of the party collapsing are mere propaganda being peddled to frustrate President Uhuru Kenyatta’s development agenda.
Speaking to journalists at Parliament building in Nairobi on Wednesday, Chege said Jubilee is intact and will not fall to intimidation and blackmail.
She claimed that certain forces are feeling threatened by the party’s popularity and influence and want to frustrate its leadership ahead of 2022.
“The party is intact and focused on helping President Uhuru Kenyatta achieve and realise the Big Four agenda,” she said.
Chege further rubbished claims that President Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto are not in good term.
She asked Jubilee supporters and Kenyans to ignore propaganda and support the Jubilee government as it works to deliver services.
There are speculations of internal wrangles that are threatening the unity of the Jubilee Party.
A section of Jubilee party politicians allied to DP Ruto has openly claimed that certain forces in the party want to frustrate Ruto’s 2022 bid.
Led by Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, the politicians claim that there is a scheme to block Ruto from contesting in 2022.
On Monday, the party was forced to cancel a parliamentary meeting that had been set for Tuesday.
In a statement to the media, Party secretary-general Raphael Tuju said that there was no crisis to warrant a PG meeting.
Tuju, however, said that the party is planning a retreat to iron out differences among some members.
