The political debate surrounding Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa seems to be taking a new twist after a section Malindi residents threw their weight in support of the legislator’s recent actions.
Led by Fuad Kombe, the residents on Monday dismissed leaders from Kilifi county who are fighting the MP’s new development strategy of siding with the Deputy President William Ruto, and termed the critics as idlers.
Speaking to the press in Malindi, Kombe said that leaders are supposed to debate development-related issues such as the gaps in the education and health sectors, a case that he said is not happening with Kilifi county leaders.
Kombe said, “there are better systems of correcting one another. If someone believes that Ms. Jumwa is not doing the right thing, she can be summoned and the issue be solved soberly.”
According to Kombe, Kilifi leaders are engaging in cheap politics instead of issue-based ones.
“Aisha Jumwa does not represent ODM in the National Assembly, she represents the people of Malindi who are yearning for change. We are therefore requesting our leaders to engage in politics that will bring that change,” he added.
The residents reiterated that every leader who was elected is very important to the people they represent, thereby asking those with issues with Aisha to wait untill 2022 and challenge her.
