Police in Tigania East, Meru county are searching for a man accused of killing his 12-year-old son for eating an avocado from a neighbour's farm.
Morris Kirema allegedly committed the crime on Thursday, and also seriously injured his 8-year old daughter in the process, reports the Daily Nation.
Kirema, 35, descended on his children with blows and kicks and slashed them with a panga.
The boy died on the spot. Their mother was also reportedly injured during the attack.
Confirming the incident, Mbaraga Chief Kamutie Mutia said the girl escaped with deep cuts on her legs and is in critical condition.
Witnesses said the suspect was enraged after he was notified that the children had taken the fruits on Wednesday, and was supposed to pay.
Both the mother and daughter are recuperating at the Muthara sub-county hospital.
The boy's body was taken to Meru Level Five Hospital.
