Last year, Miguna Miguna was unceremoniously thrown out of the country in February and his attempt to return were blocked in March by authorities on claims that he didn't have a valid passport.

On Twitter, Miguna said: "Pursuant to rights vested upon me by God, my mother, the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, all applicable laws and ORDERS issued by Justices Mwita, Kimaru, Odunga, Aburili and Wakiaga, I hereby announce that I will return in April, 2019 on a date to be announced."

"Thank you to Kenyan patriots, Pan-Africanists and friends of Kenya who have demonstrated through thousands of solidarity messages to me that the majority of our people are ready for a revolution. I'll be in Kenya in April, 2019 even if I have to swim across the Atlantic Ocean," added the fiery lawyer.

Mr Miguna has been on head-on coalition with the country's leadership, accusing President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga of orchestrating his woes.

Recently, he released another book; Treason: The case against tyrants and renegades, in which he summarised his deportation despite numerous court orders to have him reinstated.

Born in Nyando constituency, Miguna Miguna first fled to exile in 1987 when he was a student at Nairobi University and was offered asylum in Canada where he pursued law.
