Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has warned Dagoretti North Member of Parliament Simba Arati against using Boda boda riders to bring chaos at funerals in Kisii region.
Matiang'i while speaking on Friday in Kisii town after meeting with local chiefs said elected leaders should not take advantage of jobless youths to use them in bringing trouble to others.
"It is bad that some leaders like Arati are using Boda boda riders to cause mayhem at a funeral with an intention of seeking relevance in the community politics. It is so immature for grown-up leaders to misuse jobless people," he stated.
He insisted that leaders should be at the forefront of championing for development and not moving around with goons to disrupt peaceful functions.
Matiang'i said police won't spare anyone inciting people to cause disturbance.
"This country has got enough police officers to protect our people. Youths who are being hired to move around under the influence of cheap liquor to disrupt functions should either stop or be arrested to face prosecution," he added.
He challenged residents to ignore divisive politicians seeking fame ahead of the 2022 polls.
