Nyatike MP Tom Odege now says that Deputy President William Ruto's presidency after the 2022 general elections would be the nation's worst mistake.
Speaking on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha on Monday morning, the MP said that the nation would be turned into a haven of corruption if Ruto succeeds.
Citing the DP's alleged opposition to the ongoing fight against graft, he warned that he is likely to stand by the side and let the corrupt take over if made President.
"Iwapo yeye hataki tupigane na ufisadi hapa Kenya hakuna haja awe rais. Kama anaunga wafisadi mkono akiwa naibu, nchi itakuwaje akiwa rais(If he doesn't want us to fight graft in Kenya, it is pointless to have him as the president. If he is supporting the corrupt as the Deputy President, how will the country be when he becomes the president?)," posed the lawmaker.
He added that the DP may have a hard time making it to State House in 2022 because of his attacks on other leaders and reckless talk.
According to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MP, Ruto's doublespeak will also make it hard for Kenyans to trust him to lead them for the next five years after 2022.
"Asiwe anasema tupigane na ufisadi ilhali anapinga vita dhidi ya ufisadi. Hakuna mkenya atakayemwamini (Let him not say we fight corruption while he opposes the same. There is no Kenyan who will believe him)," stated Odege.
