The man, Dennis Mutai, had warned of a repeat of the 2007/2008 post-election violence should President Uhuru Kenyatta fail to endorse his deputy William Ruto in the 2022 general polls.

The tweet was brought into the limelight after former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo put Mutai on the spot, noting that such remarks should be condemned in the strongest terms possible.

“This is the most irresponsible utterance and must be condemned in the strongest terms possible,” said Kabogo in a tweet in which he tagged the Director of Public Prosecutions and Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet.

Kabogo’s sentiments were echoed by a section of Kenyans who called for Mutai’s arrest.

Reacting to the public outcry, the National Police Service noted that it was working with the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to ensure action is taken against the culprit in accordance with the law.

On its part, NCIC noted that it had launched investigations into the matter, and warned Kenyans against making inciting utterances.
