Her parents, Douglas Otieno and Melida Auma said the decision was reached after consulting their lawyer, Pater Kaluma.

“We are not carrying out any burial preparations, we cannot talk much unless our lawyer divulges more information,” said the mother.

The same was confirmed by the father who spoke to the Nation inside the Homa Bay law courts.

Since Monday, Ms. Otieno's relatives have been attending court session in Homa Bay even though they are not actively involved in the case.

Autopsy report revealed that the slain student succumbed to excessive bleeding after being stabbed eight times.

Mr. Kaluma, who is also Homa Bay Town legislator, said burial plans will commence when killers have been put in jail.

“Kenya is usually a forgetful country and the moment we bury Sharon Otieno, we will forget everything to do with her death,” Mr Kaluma said.

For the better parpart of Tuesday, Migori Governor Okoth Obado was grilled by detectives after being linked to the brutal murder.

His PA Michael Oyamo, who is believed to have coordinated abduction of Sharon and Journalist Barack Oduor, will be charged in Nairobi, Wednesday.
