Despite his silence, it is very likely that opposition leader Raila Odinga might take another stab at the presidency in the approaching 2022 general elections.
He will obviously be seeking votes from all corners of Kenya, especially Mt Kenya region which has in the past failed to support his State House bid.
However, Odinga is most likely to get the Central Kenya political vote now more than ever and below are some of the prominent persons from the region who might make him president.
1. President Uhuru Kenyatta
Others would argue that it is Kenyans who will decide who will be their next president but it's quite clear that most Kenyans don't individually decide their paths but are rather influenced.
Therefore, should things remain as they are between Raila and President Uhuru since their truce early last year, then it's very likely that the President will endorse the former premier.
With Uhuru behind him and the massive support he enjoys from his huge political following, Raila will simply be unbeatable in the race.
Its worth noting that Uhuru too brings with him a huge national backing and votes his Mt Kenya bedrock where he is considered the ultimate political decision maker.
2. Jimmy Wanjigi
The famed business mogul has repeatedly claimed that he is to thank for Uhuru's first election in 2013 before they apparently fell out.
He is currently one of Raila's closest allies and was even seen at Uhuru Park during Raila's January 30, 2018 mock swearing-in.
With Wanjigi on his side, then Raila could be safe as far as election campaign funds are concerned and will only need a few more sponsors to bankroll his campaigns.
3. David Murathe
The former Jubilee deputy vice chair can indirectly make Raila president come 2022, thanks to his recent declaration to use all his artillery to fight Deputy President William Ruto.
In the instance that he sticks to his threat and leads a massive walkout from the party, then he will have caused a division in Central Kenya, denying Ruto its full support.
And since the DP heavily depends on the region for survival past 2022 and also expects it to honour its initial vow to back him, such a move will render his bid futile.
With the Central Kenya voting bloc divided, Raila will have it easy winning since its the region and its millions of voters that has been denying him the seat.
It will be even better if Murathe and his team back the former prime minister.
