City lawyer and opposition sympathiser Nelson Havi has called for the speedy punishment of those involved in the murder of Baby Samantha Pendo.
Baby Pendo died after being hit by anti-riot police at their home in Kisumu's Nyalenda Slums.
In her verdict Thursday, Kisumu Resident Magistrate Beryl Omollo directed the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Directorate of Public Prosecutions to investigate a number of police officers who were deployed to the area on the material day.
Havi is now calling upon Director for Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji and his Criminal Investigations counterpart George Kinoti to see to it that the group is jailed.
"We expect DCI George Kinoti and DPP Noordin Haji to proceed with haste and charge EX Kisumu CCPC Titus Yoma, GSU Commander John Masha and all policemen responsible for the murder of Baby Pendo. They should join their rogue colleague, Nahashon Mutua in jail; for life, for murder," he tweeted after the ruling.
The riots broke in Kisumu after opposition leader Raila Odinga, who enjoys massive backing in the region that rejected President Uhuru Kenyatta's August 8, 2017 re-election.
Havi formed the team of lawyers that represented Raila at the Supreme Court in his petition against the reelection.
