Speaking on Citizen TV's News Night Tuesday night, Tuju reiterated his earlier remark that politicians should shun the debate revolving around the 2022 general elections.

He said that the nation and politicians should deal with the nation's current matters, terming arrogant, the groups traversing the nation in preparation for the 2022 polls.

Tuju added that the nation has a lot of issues that need to be addressed, finding it offensive that leaders would rather engage in less beneficial matters in the name of future polls.

"Anybody talking about not just 2022 is being arrogant, especially at a time when we have issues to handle like out people being ravaged by hunger in Turkana," he said.

"If we were really to be doing the right thing we should be spending our time dealing with problems like the drought situations. Not 2022," added the Cabinet Secretary without portfolio.

But this comes at a time when even Deputy President William Ruto seems to have set his eyes on 2022, as he seeks to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta whose term is coming to an end.

Asked if he sympathizes with the DP in too, Tuju said that he is sorry for everyone setting their eyes on the future at the expense of Kenyans suffering currently.

However, he acquitted Ruto, noting that the DP, saying that he too is opposed to the continued politicking.

"I sympathize with anybody obsessed with 2022, but I have heard the Deputy President say that we should concentrate on serving Kenyans and forget about 2022," he added.
