It is gradually becoming crystal clear that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) may not deliver justice to a CEC in Intensive Care Unit at a city hospital.
This is partly due to the nature of the incident and the individuals already linked to the shooting.
Going by recent developments in the case, the governor adversely mentioned in the case has allegedly been reaching to the family of the critically ailing CEC with an intention of settling the matter outside the law courts.
Worth noting also is the fact that the DCI and the DPP have handled other cases of a similar criminal weight, and are almost getting to a conclusive end.
For instance, a case involving governor Obado has been accorded much prominence as opposed to the CEC's despite the fact that it happened most recently.
Away from this, governor Korane who was adversely mentioned in the case is still a free man despite an alleged direct role in the shooting incident.
He is yet to be arrested and brought before a court of law. Interestingly, one of the prime suspect in the case allegedly committed suicide in a police cell dimming the prospects of the case reaching a conclusive end.
Finally, being a political case, the CEC's case may just follow the path that other high-profile political cases do.
Historically, not a single case implicating highly influential individuals has ever been resolved. Chris Msando's case is just one of them, the killers are still free and the matter is long forgotten.
