The meeting, a source said, was meant to allocate MPs slots to county government with Chief Officer positions at stake.

But a furious Mogeni, the source added, protested Nyagarama's move insisting that the slots should be given out to people based on merit.

"He is not among those in Kisumu. He was however invited by the governor but he's not happy at all how the county government is being run.

"As a protest, he asked MPs to allow CPSB pick competent individuals who can work for the people," said the source.

In an interview with Egesa FM early this month, Mogeni scolded Governor Nyagarama's government over sluggish development.

"It is sad that we have seen nothing transformative on the ground. As Senate, we have summoned him to explain audited accounts 2013/14 and more is set to come," he said.

Those who attended the meeting and whose allies are set to be rewarded with Chief Officer positions are Vincent Kemosi (West Mugirango), Joash Nyamoko (North Mugirango), Ben Momanyi (Borabu) and Shadrack Mose (Kitutu Masaba).

The Communication team of the governor could neither deny nor admit of the meeting in Kisumu.
